CoE International Conference

Molecular Materials and Functions - 2024

9 - 11 Dec. 2024

Organised by

Indian Institute of Technology Madras

Conference Description

This international conference on Molecular Materials and Functions-2024 is 2nd in the series. This conference will be held from December 9-11, 2024 at IIT Madras, Chennai, India.

This conference, Molecular Materials and Functions-2024 (MMF-2024) is jointly sponsored by IIT Madras and the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), an organization that supports research and innovation in India. This series of conferences is part of the activities of the Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Molecular Materials and Functions, one of the clusters of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM). Being the most premier academic institute in India, IITM is one of the ‘Institute of Eminence,’ launched by the Government of India to empower Higher Educational Institutions and help them become world-class teaching and research institutions.

The main objective of this series of conferences is to create a forum for discussion on molecular materials and associated functions – where the fundamental building blocks are molecules rather than atoms. By studying the chemical, physical, and mechanical properties of such materials, it is expected that we will achieve breakthrough results in the emergence of properties in matter as well as gain fundamental insights into the reactivity, catalysis, electrical transport, magnetism, and energy storage and dissipation, in the foreseeable future.

The first conference in this series was conducted on December 5-7, 2022 (https://molmatter.org/conference-2022/). This conference featured esteemed speakers such as Prof. Manfred Michael Kappes, Prof. Paul Storch Weiss, Prof. Stefanie Susanne Dehnen, Prof. Robert Lloyd Whetten, Prof. Nonappa, and Prof. Tomas Base, Prof. Yuichi Negishi, Prof. De En Jiang, Prof. Josef Breu, Prof. Praveen Linga, Prof. Jianping Xie alongside several Indian experts such as Prof. T. Pradeep, Prof. Sukhendu Mandal, Prof. Rajnish Kumar, Prof. Indranath Chakraborty and a few more.

Following the success of the previous conference (MMF-2022), we are sure that this year’s event (MMF-2024) will continue to serve as a platform for bringing together trailblazing researchers, innovators, and industrialists from worldwide, who have made a profound impact in diverse areas around molecular materials, to address current challenges and to engage with them in the years ahead.

Organizing Institute

IIT Madras is a public, technical, and research university, responsible for academic activities which include Teaching, Research, and Industrial Consultancy. It is located in Chennai, India. It has been the top-ranking engineering institute in India for the past 7 years in the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Rankings since this ranking system was announced in 2015, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

In association with

Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali (Punjab), an autonomous institution of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has been established under the umbrella of NANO MISSION, initiated by DST to boost research and development in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in India.

Key Sponsor

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) is a department within the Ministry of Science and Technology in India. It was established in May 1971 to promote new areas of science and technology and to play the role of a nodal department for organizing, coordinating, and promoting Scientific and Technological activities in the country. It gives funds to various approved scientific projects in India. It also supports various researchers in India to attend conferences abroad and to go for experimental work
